The players of A beautiful team from Mohamed Hamidi have decided to replace at short notice the gentlemen of their club excluded from the stadiums because of a fight. What sow discord in their entourage because their initiative is not to the taste of some men who will lead them hard.
"Before making a football film, I wanted to tell the story of a female collective," says the filmmaker at 20 Minutes . It is a subject that I know well because I was raised in the midst of six sisters older than me. Sabrina Ouazani, Céline Sallette and Laure Calamy are among the actresses he sends to the field and he has them coached by two played accomplices Kad Merad and André Wilms.
A real soccer player on the move
"I found it funny to show women rushing in the stretchers," admits the director. And this is indeed what these ladies do with vigorous enthusiasm, not hesitating to send their husbands and children for a walk to illustrate the ball with their feet. "To make the actresses credible when they play, I called Aurélie Meynard to train them," he adds. The latter, a former professional footballer who has become an educator, took the team under her wing. Corinne Petit, player of Olympique Lyonnais, is also visible on the field.

"If their characters were very written, it was necessary to combine their temperament and their aptitudes because all the actresses did not have the same level at the start", confides the director. Sabrina Ouazani was the one who knew football best: she was therefore placed in attack. "She had played a lot when she was a kid, explains Mohaded Hamidi, but she had to find her basics. Ditto for his partners who had to work hard to be up to par in the match scenes, getting better as the shooting progressed.
Like their characters
“They followed a little the same course as their characters, remembers the filmmaker. As in the film, Kad Merad and Alban Ivanov were there to encourage them. Mohamed Hamidi filmed the football plans at the end of the shoot and marveled at the progress of his actresses. "They put their heart into it and it paid off, we believe it!" if he exclaims. The spectator becomes a convinced supporter of this beautiful team, managing to assert themselves with as much ardor on the field as outside.
