A facetious cetacean smile and extraordinary dimensions. Airbus announces this Monday from Toulouse the entry into service, after more than 200 flight tests, of its BelugaXL, its brand new cargo plane for internal use.

"With its 63 meters long and a fuselage diameter of 8 meters, the BelugaXL has the largest hold section of all cargo planes in the world," says the European manufacturer. It is notably capable of transporting the complete wing of a 350 XWB, while its predecessor, the BelugaST can only carry half a wing.

The juggernaut can move up to 51 tonnes over a radius of 4,000 km, enough to play luxury deliverers on 11 European Airbus sites and "support the ramp-up in production of civil aircraft programs" , main challenge of the moment while the order book is so thick that it ensures more than 8 years of work.
