The mayor of Le Havre announced that he had filed "a complaint" following an action by protesters against the pension reform on Friday, preventing the holding of a ceremony of vows to personalities of the town.

“The demonstrators invaded the salons of the Hôtel de Ville and carried out numerous degradations. They showed their contempt for the Republican Pact and for living together, which is why I lodged a complaint, ”said Jean-Baptiste Gastinne, mayor LR of Le Havre in a tweet Saturday evening.

Wishes "at the height of discontent"

"About 150 demonstrators" opposed to the pension reform had carried out this action Friday after having "forced the access grid" of the town hall, the municipality said on Friday. She had mentioned “degradations”, and indicated that “the state of the salons did not (allow) to organize the planned vows” in the evening.

The demonstrators claimed to have come "to present (their) wishes" to the mayor "at the height of (their) dissatisfaction", had explained Sandrine Gerard, secretary of the local union CGT of Le Havre. Among the protesters were a few "yellow vests," according to the union member.

Impossible ceremony

“It was no longer possible to organize the ceremony after the demonstrators had passed. The salons were in disarray. Some people have served themselves in petit fours and bottles of alcohol, ”according to the municipality.

“There was no tension or violence. Everything happened calmly, ”said the town hall.
