Tokyo Metropolitan Government Free private high school tuition fee free To expand the conditions of target households January 11 10:05

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has decided to expand the conditions of the target households from the current annual income of less than 7.6 million yen to less than 9.1 million yen for a business that subsidizes tuition fees for private high schools and makes it practically free.

With regard to private high school tuition fees, the city currently pays approximately 460,000 yen, which is the average annual tuition fee for families with four parents and two children and earning less than 7.6 million yen per year, in addition to government support. A subsidy is provided as an upper limit, and a tuition fee is virtually free of charge.

In this regard, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, which is formulating a budget for the new fiscal year, has decided to expand the scope of subsidies from the new fiscal year to households with an annual income of less than ¥ 9.1 million to further reduce the burden. This means that nearly half of Tokyo's students attending private high schools will be subsidized.

The capital has also decided to establish a new subsidy program for households raising three or more children, with a maximum of 59,400 yen per high school student, equivalent to half the annual tuition fee of a public high school.

On the other hand, apart from the “competition expenses” such as the maintenance expenses for the competition venue newly established with the Kotoshin Tokyo Games, the project expenses for road maintenance etc. triggered by the competition are positioned as “competition-related expenses” Until now, it had been estimated that it would cost 810 billion yen, but it was revealed that the construction cost was lower than expected, and that it is expected to be 73.0 billion yen, a decrease of 33 billion yen.
