Trump lowers pressure over threat of war with Iran

Donald Trump's response to the Iranian missile fire at American bases in Iraq took a day to arrive. This took the form of a midday speech Tuesday from the White House. Surrounded by the highest officials of the American General Staff, the president opened his speech by congratulating himself that "no American was [it] injured in the attacks". He therefore chose to only impose new economic sanctions against Iran. The new measures are mainly symbolic. Trump wanted to show that he was not looking for escalation.
