In Gravelines as elsewhere, the pension reform does not pass for the unions. They were about 400 demonstrators this Thursday morning to organize a filtering dam in front of the nuclear power plant of Gravelines, on the northern coast. The CGT even announces declining production since Wednesday evening.

"The consequence is a significant drop in load on this day of action, less 1,400 megawatts [of 5,600 megawatts] of production since last night. EDF will be obliged to buy power, and not necessarily at a favorable price. It will cost the company dearly, this slowdown at the power plant, ”said Nicolas Dessertenne, CGT delegate for the site near Dunkirk.

Non-strikers queue up

“Nuclear power is not an easy job, we are not privileged. Precariousness in nuclear power exists (…). It's a sensitive subject, you don't see yourself working in uranium at 64, ”added Franck Redondo of FO.

This Thursday morning, around 9:30 am, fifty non-strikers were still lining up to be able to access the site. The striking workers, joined by railroad workers, hospital staff and Dunkirk buses, had set up two campfires.
