According to Kenichiro Tomizawa, Chief of the Supreme Court Civil Affairs Bureau, "The introduction of a web conference will increase the convenience and transparency of civil trials. We will work to promote IT from the perspective of users."

Web meetings in civil trials will be introduced in eight district courts such as Tokyo and Osaka and the Intellectual Property High Court from next month, and will be held in courts nationwide thereafter.

In the future, the possibility of introducing a webcam in public court proceedings and making it possible to file an action on the Internet is being considered.
