  • On Twitter, the humorist Rémi Gaillard challenged Emmanuel Macron, on January 2, by sharing the photo of a woman named Vanessa, "struck by an LBD in 2018".
  • In addition to a photo of the young woman on her hospital bed, he accompanied her message with a “necrotic” brain scan.
  • Several internet users claim that this document is misleading because it actually dates from 2001 or was manipulated. But this one is as authentic as the injury suffered by the "yellow vest", as she confirms at 20 Minutes .

If he hoped to provoke strong reactions by delivering his (ironic) wishes on 2020 to Emmanuel Macron on Twitter, Rémi Gaillard can be congratulated for having achieved his goal.

"Hello Emmanuel Macron, Vanessa, blown away by an LBD in 2018, has just sent me her scanner: part of the brain is necrotic. In addition to sight, she lost taste and smell. Thank you for your "unprecedented respectful and republican dialogue". Happy New Year and especially health ”launched the comedian, January 2, in a tweet showing the photo of a woman injured in the eye, and a scanner of her brain.

Hello @EmmanuelMacron,
Vanessa, blown away by an LBD in 2018, has just sent me her scanner: part of the brain is necrotic.
In addition to sight, she lost taste and smell.

It obviously did not take more to arouse the distrust of many Internet users, questioning the reality of these images: "It is not even consistent this scanner ... The side and the position are not good compared to the impact received … ”,“ 11,000 RT for a rough fake news. The scanner dates from October 2001, look at the bottom left ”… However, these are very authentic, as confirmed by 20 Minutes Vanessa Langard, the demonstrator mentioned by Rémi Gaillard in her tweet.

FAKE OFF

Her injury, suffered on December 15, 2018, while she was demonstrating in Paris for act 5 of the "yellow vests", had already earned her some media visibility in recent months, according to her various interviews in the French press.

“The demonstration had just started, only twenty minutes ago. There was really nothing going on. There was right outside a big CRS bar. We took each other's hand, we turned around, we walked for two minutes and there, I received the impact of flashball. It was launched by a brigade of the BAC, which arrived from the left and which fired live, when there was absolutely nothing going on, ”she told Cnews for example last May.

She also stated on this occasion that her injury had caused her to undergo surgery to "contain a major cerebral hemorrhage and a head trauma" and then another to "replace part of [her] head box". For its part, AFP Factuel was able to confirm, on one of its medical certificates, that his "visual acuity [was] limited to 1 / 20th" since his injury.

A scanner dated 2019

Contacted by 20 Minutes , Vanessa Langard confirms the authenticity of the scanner as of the photo shared by Rémi Gaillard on January 2: “I did this scanner a few months ago, it shows that this part of my brain, which is linked in memory, is necrotic. Since my injury, I have been able to learn to speak correctly thanks to the rehabilitation that I follow at the rate of two sessions per week, but that prevents me from doing two activities at the same time, I have to train and relearn like a child . "

The scanner, which 20 Minutes was able to consult in its entirety, concerns Vanessa Langard and dates from 2019. The mention "ct01" which intrigued several Internet users therefore has nothing to do with the date of October 2001 but actually refers to a technical note written on the document.

"The results are" reversed "on the scanner, like on any radio" adds Vanessa Langard, while specifying that Rémi Gaillard is far from having discovered his situation in early 2020: "He had contacted me shortly after my injury, he was shocked at what had happened to me, and he's been hearing from me since, supporting me from the start. I recently contacted him again to invite him to the walk for the disabled that we are organizing in Montpellier next week. ”

"People have fun bashing me, I get insulted and I feel like I have to justify that I was injured by a police officer: what interest would I have in doing that?" It is already quite difficult on a daily basis, ”deplores the 30-year-old, who must undergo a new operation soon.
