The prices of road fuels sold in French service stations continued to increase last week, in the wake of crude prices, according to official figures published on Monday.

The price of diesel, the best-selling fuel with nearly 80% of volumes, reached 1.4841 euros per liter, up 0.93 cents compared to the previous week, according to data from the Ministry of Ecological Transition and solidarity. Its prices have been increasing every week since the end of November.

Iran crisis worsens prices

The unleaded petrol 95 was worth 1.5365 euro, up 0.71 cent. The SP95-E10, which contains up to 10% ethanol, was displayed at 1.5186 euros, or 1.11 cents more. Finally, the SP 98 reached 1.6006 euros, up 0.82 cents.

Fuel prices at the pump vary according to several parameters such as the price of a barrel of oil, the euro-dollar exchange rate, the level of stocks of petroleum products and demand, as well as taxes.

Prices have progressed overall in recent weeks. Recently, they have been strongly supported by tensions in the Middle East following the assassination in Baghdad of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, killed in an American raid.
