“It is better not to understand.” A phrase that many say and is easily misunderstood because of the prevailing mentality in our society. I have a friend who specializes in technology, who decided to stay at home for a whole day to set up electronic devices, and when I asked him what are you doing? He told me I did such and such with the doe system, then I devoted to another device that I inspected and connected some technical matters, and do not ask me more because it is better not to understand.
I did not find in his words an insult, and the meaning of the phrase is that a man specializes in matters if he tried to explain it to me that I did not understand, and why I ask about something that I often will not understand, and in my heart I am not interested in it. Specialization in a field is a culture in the West, and a disadvantage for the Arabs, because we understand everything and we want to speak in all fields and make our substitutions in every way.
Any of us can talk about something if it is in the form of general information or a personal experience with a lesson, but the prevailing among us is that the speaker says words that will not be free of his "wise" opinion on something we all know that he is not within his specialization in what we call the lecture style, but the western He will honor you with a word I do not know, because it is not within his competence.
The method of the lecture was effective in the past, but with the change of time and the ease of availability of information with the press of a button, it became sterile. You do not need a lecture from someone who talks, for example, about the benefits of running and types of sports shoes, especially if I did not ask for his opinion and I had experienced the experience before him and he knows that!
A lecture means listening to a boastful person who underestimates the importance of your social intelligence and wants to make you a follower of it, and for this reason it is rejected in the West, because people there are trained in the process of research and exploration, and everyone wants to form an independent opinion.
And here is the same thing for many people, especially in this time when technology facilitated everything, but we still have the lecture as a method entrenched in our culture from ancient times that many adhere to, and I will not say to some because they think it increases their social status.
But if someone tells you it is better not to understand, know that he is smart and you have to speak it at a higher level than the one who is lecturing you. Know that he is a specialist in a field and does not want to waste your time and time explaining often it will be sterile for you, because he will be a lecture on a subject outside your interest and above your level of understanding.
Do not worry about understanding, for ignorance of some things is not a defect, and you are not required to explain everything, because people who are interested in something must search alone.
In Arabic: We are greatly impressed by the owner of knowledge and experience, if he speaks to us, and a halo that gives him a kind of idealism is formed around him, but as soon as this person exits or takes him out of his area of expertise and goes into another field, he quickly becomes an ordinary person for his fans, and the aura disappears immediately.
