The cycle of instability that opened the economic crisis will find a turning point in the coalition government between PSOE and Podemos, if Pedro Sánchez finally manages to carry out his investiture in the plenary session convened for this weekend . The alliance between the socialists and the radical left, based on Basque nationalism, Catalan independence and a group of minority formations, represents an unprecedented turn . Sanchez insists on presenting his decision to coalesce with populists and secessionists as the natural exit of the PSOE. The reality, as evidenced by the poll we publish today, is that the majority of socialist voters prefer to govern thanks to the abstention of the PP than of ERC , which shows an unequivocal will to depart from the extremists.

The agreements signed by the PSOE to try to form a government and the inability of the PP to capitalize on the opposition at an extraordinarily delicate moment are leaving the center abandoned. Sánchez is responsible for imposing an unprecedented path for the Socialists. This is causing extremes to skyrocket in the middle of an increasingly polarized and fragmented political map . The Sigma Dos survey for THE WORLD reveals that, while PSOE and PP move back positions and Citizens are on their way to becoming a residual force, Podemos and Vox make a profit marked by the intensification of the left-right axis, the opacity of the rinses with separatism and lack of audacity to save cross-cutting agreements. While the purple formation rises two and a half points in intention to vote since the last elections, the party led by Abascal reaches 16% of the electorate. Vox is already on the heels of the PP, weighed down by a worrying fact for Casado: 76% of the voters of the PP wanted him to make an offer to the PSOE to avoid investiture agreements with ERC. Rivera's collapse proves the need to build political leadership from a proactive attitude, ideological strength and courage to embody an alternative to those who seem willing to put the nation in almoneda.

Turning towards radical positions constitutes a historical error of the PSOE that collides with the citizen yearnings. The articulated democracy during the Transition is heir to the consensus . Hence, government pacts will always be forged from a centrality space capable of preserving the pillars on which the constitutional architecture of 78 is based. The bulk of Spaniards demand moderation, balance and understanding . It is worrying that our political class, starting with Sánchez himself, is unable to assume this mandate.
