Exactly which TV series has become most popular with the Swedes is hard to say since streaming sites like Netflix and HBO unwittingly go out with numbers. But Cultural News has compiled which TV series, according to the companies themselves, attracted the most viewers on their platforms in 2019.
HBO:1. Game of thrones
Last season was hardly a fan favorite, but it didn't seem to matter.
2. Chernobyl
Swedish-directed and with Stellan Skarsgård in one of the roles.
2. The handmaid's speech
The fascination for Gilead endured.
4. Vikings
More Skarsgård, this time in the form of Gustaf.
5. Big little lies
Even more Skarsgård, this time in the form of Alexander (who is not particularly present in Season 2 since his role figure died).
Netflix:1. Greatest of all
Sweden's first original series for the streaming giant paid dividends.
2. The witcher
Late in the year, the long-awaited fantasy series premiered and it seems to have been impersonated.
3. Stranger Things 3
Teenage horror rolls on and new monsters are fought
4. Home for Christmas
Neighboring Norway's first original series also went home with the Swedes. Felix Sandman from Biggest of all shows up here as well.
5. Sex education
British teen comedy with Mikael Persbrandt in a supporting role.
SVT Play:1. The Bonus Family 3
Felix and Moa Herngren's family comedy continues to be popular.
2. Our time is now 3
The post-war drama at the Stockholm restaurant continues to captivate the audience.
3. Leif & Billy
Sketch comedy about Norrlandbröder.
4. A place called home / Home again
Australian 50s drama about a nurse.
5. Eagles
Youth series in small town environment.
TV4 / CMoreHumor-long-running driver Solsidan's sixth season has, according to TV4, smashed all previous digital records with the 2019 season.

Has been described as a Swedish version of popular British Fleabag, starring Josephine Bornebusch.
2. Honor
Swedish crime series by Sofia Helin with Julia Dufvenius, among others.
