The Department of Municipalities and Transport announced the start of applying the traffic tariffs in Abu Dhabi to 4 bridges at peak times only from 7 to 9 in the morning and from 5 to 7 pm from Saturday to Thursday, at 4 dirhams per gate, with a maximum limit for individual vehicles of 16 dirhams per day and 200 AED per month. As of January 2, 2020.

The application of traffic tariffs in Abu Dhabi, according to the department, aims to reduce traffic congestion, enhance the flow of road traffic, and encourage community members to use alternative transportation methods.

The department announced the exemption of senior citizens, people of determination, citizens of low income and retired citizens from traffic tariff fees, in addition to previously exempted categories that include taxis registered in the emirate, electric cars, buses, motorcycles and non-civilian vehicles.
