“Unfortunately, more and more municipalities are prioritizing culture and film educational activities. We are also investing in spreading awareness that increased knowledge of moving images is necessary for a strong democracy. There, this support is of great importance, ”says the Film Institute's CEO Anna Serner, according to a press release.

The initiative concerns, for example, children and young people's access to school cinema and film courses within the cultural school. Some of the municipalities that have sought support to start school cinema are Kungsör and Sundbyberg.

Twice a year, the Film Institute awards money to film-cultural activities for children and young people. A total of SEK 3.3 million is granted annually in support.
