His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has confirmed that he will personally be a supporter of efforts and programs to empower women in Africa, Asia and South America, and everywhere in the world. This came in a speech by His Highness, which he delivered yesterday morning in front of attending the opening ceremony of the second session of the World Summit for Economic Empowerment of Women, which is organized, over two days, by the Nama Foundation for the Advancement of Women, in cooperation with the United Nations for Women, in the Al-Jawaher Center for Events and Conferences, Under the slogan "Engines of Change".

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah said: “We are pleased to meet you all today, and we are pleased with your participation in the Second International Conference on (Economic Empowerment of Women). It seems to us that many of you have participated in the first session of this conference, which was held in Sharjah two years ago, we welcome their return to visit Sharjah, and we wish For all present attending a successful conference, God willing.

His Highness added, “Women are the mother, sister, wife, mother of girls and boys, so what do you expect our vision to be in society, family and family? A woman is an inherent partner in life, with everything in it, in the days of prosperity and in times of hardship, and in the easy and difficult, along with men in all matters of the world, there is no preference for one over another. To achieve this vision, we all had, men and women, to start from the beginning, and to establish our children on this vision from early childhood, to teach, and to support interaction among them, to establish these family and societal principles and foundations ».

And His Highness addressed a message to the various institutions of society, saying: "We are now asking various companies and institutions to add to what we have built during the past decades, and to work to include their systems, regulations and orientations, which allows and confirms to give equal real opportunities for our sons and daughters to work, creativity and innovation."

Reem bin Karam, president of the Nama Foundation for the Advancement of Women, said in her speech during the opening ceremony: “We are not at the summit to defend women's rights, and we are not going to raise recommendations and slogans that we celebrate for days. Kitswey Dlamini, Senior Officer at UN Women, stressed that the importance of the World Summit for Women's Economic Empowerment lies in its role and outputs seeking to develop the reality of women, enhance its leadership to achieve UN development goals by 2030, and reach a secure and sustainable global community, not just for the current generation But for future generations.

"The countries of the world must place the issue of empowering women at the top of their priorities, because the development of women means the growth of the family, and when the family grows, the nations grow, and the whole world grows, and from this summit we want to offer the world a new birth for the mechanisms of empowering women," Dlamini said.

The opening ceremony of the summit witnessed the presentation of the achievements and initiatives of local and international bodies, which pledged during the first session of the summit in 2017 to adopt two of the eight principles emanating from UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact, to ensure the economic empowerment of women, as the committed parties committed to review their policies towards women To serve its vital role in the economy and societal development.
