Disney Studios has published the first teaser trailer for the sequel to the movie "The Last Knight". The video was published on the social network Odnoklassniki.

The continuation of the family tale, filmed by the Russian office of Disney in conjunction with the studio Yellow, Black and White, received the prefix "Root of Evil". According to the plot of the tape, Athletic Games are held in Belogorye, during which the heroes demonstrate daring and strength. The main character, Ivan, does not plan to participate in them, because he does not feel the heroic power in himself.

However, during the competition, an ancient evil awakens (and the audience finds out where the root of this evil is), to fight against which Ivan unites with old friends and even enemies.

The same team of scriptwriters worked on the sequel as on the original film. The director's chair was again occupied by Dmitry Dyachenko. The actors Victor Khorinyak (Ivan), Mila Sivatskaya (Vasilisa), Ekaterina Vilkova (Varvara), Elena Yakovleva (Baba Yaga), Konstantin Lavronenko (Koschei) and Evgeny Dyatlov (Dobrynya Nikitich) returned to their roles. Kirill Zaitsev also joined the caste - he will play the hero of Finist.

The sequel was shot in the Moscow region, as well as in Karelia, the Krasnodar Territory and the Urals. According to the former director of Disney in Russia and the CIS, Marina Zhigalova-Ozkan, the “Root of Evil” will be more technological.

“We came up with new computer heroes, special effects, spectacular battles,” she said on Instagram. In addition, from her words, the third film about the hero Ivan is in development.

It is expected that the picture "The Last Knight: The Root of Evil" will be released in December 2020.

Bogatyr of domestic hire

The first part of the movie with Russian folk motifs was released in 2017. The tape became the second large-scale work of Disney in Russia (before that, the studio released the less successful “Book of Masters”, the plot of which was also based on Russian folk tales).

In the film “The Last Bogatyr” it is about how a guy from modern Moscow got into a fabulously epic world that must be saved from the machinations of Dobrynia Nikitich, who switched to the dark side. In Belogorye, Ivan is perceived as the son of Ilya Muromets.

In the story, Ivan has to unite with the traditionally negative characters of Russian folklore - Baba Yaga, Koshchei the Immortal and Vodyan. In the course of the story, he himself turns from a cynical and cowardly layman into a worthy heir to the illustrious Russian hero.

When working on the first film, Dmitry Dyachenko noted the influence of Soviet cinema: by his own admission, he was guided by the work of the Grand Prix of the Venice Festival Alexander Rowe, who directed such films as “Morozko”, “Varvara Krasa, a long braid” and “The Kingdom crooked mirrors ”,“ Finist - The Clear Falcon ”, familiar to many Soviet and Russian children.

In particular, Dyachenko took the approach to working with humorous elements, but at the same time he refused the grotesque presentation of negative characters inherent in Rowe's paintings.

Zhigalova-Ozkan sees the film’s special value in combining two diverse components in one story: “We managed to very carefully combine the legacy of Russian folk tales and the tradition of Disney stories,” she wrote on her Instagram page.

The record box office of the fairy tale “The Last Bogatyr” was the most striking event of the domestic film industry in 2017. The fees for the painting, also created in collaboration with Disney and Yellow, Black and White, for the first weeks of rental amounted to about 1.617 billion rubles. Thus, “The Last Bogatyr” overtook such rental leaders as “Stalingrad” (although Bondarchuk’s tape still remains one of the highest grossing domestic paintings abroad) and “Viking”.

In addition, at the moment the tape is in fourth place among Russian-made films in terms of the number of viewers of home rental: 7.7 million people watched it in cinemas (in the overall ranking of domestic and foreign films, the picture is in the top 20).

However, with the release of "Movement Up", "T-34" and the full-length tape "Policeman from Rublevka. New Year's lawlessness, ”Dyachenko’s film moved to fourth position among the highest grossing films of national distribution.
