Numazu City Hospital acknowledges medical malpractice and gives compensation to city side Tokyo High Court Dec. 5 22:39

After a cesarean operation at Numazu City Hospital in Shizuoka Prefecture, the Tokyo High Court refused to accept the hospital's responsibility in a trial in which the criminal thrombus was clogged and the bereaved woman was seeking compensation from the city. On the contrary, he ordered the city side to compensate about 83 million yen.

A 35-year-old woman in the prefecture who gave birth at Numazu City Hospital in 2009 died in May after a cesarean section and had a clogged blood clot in the lungs.

The female bereaved family filed a lawsuit seeking compensation from the city for the doctor's treatment before and after surgery, but the Shizuoka District Court Numazu branch rejected the complaint last March.

According to the decision of the second trial, the chief of the Tokyo High Court, Masanori Tsuzuki, said, “The doctor had to take care of using a stretcher when moving the ward to prevent clots from clogging the lungs. "There is a causal relationship between the doctor's negligence and the death of a woman," he ordered the city to pay more than 83 million yen.

The woman ’s mother said, “I was really glad that I could clear my daughter's regret. I want to report it before the grave.”

“We will confirm the details of the decision and respond appropriately,” says Numazu Municipal Hospital Director Kenwa Isobe.
