The message is clear after the Social Democratic government, together with its support parties, presented next year's state budget during Monday night, reports Swedish Radio's Culture News.

So far, the savings have meant saving over half a billion SEK on the culture since 2016.

It was at the end of 2015 that the new government decided that SEK 600 million should be saved in theaters, museums and other state cultural institutions in Denmark.

The decision meant that the cultural institutions' operating costs would be reduced by two per cent a year. The money would instead be spent on elderly and health issues, as well as tax relief.
