Large stuffed rope making Chiba Naritasan Shinshoji December 2, 11:59

It's been a month now, and at Naritasan Shinshoji Temple in Chiba Prefecture, where many people visit for the first time on New Year's Day, the construction of a large rope is being made in front of the main hall.

Every year, about 3 million New Year's Day visits Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, which begins with a worshiper at Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, started from the beginning of last month.

Oishime Rope, which has been made in the hope of harvesting cereals, is characterized by a unique shape that hangs rice ears. When completed, it is 6.6 meters long and weighs 200 kg.

On the 2nd, temple staff and locals started work from the morning to tie a bunch of straw of about 1 meter and 50 centimeters in length to a wooden stick that became the core of the rope.

At Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, the roof of the main hall was damaged by Typhoon No. 15 in September, but the straw used for the large sword rope was cut just before, so it was avoided.

The temple staff Fumio Akiba said, “Because the damage from the typhoon was so great, we made it while praying for a peaceful New Year.”

The work will continue until the end of this month, and the finished large sword rope will be decorated in front of the main hall on the 25th.
