The nationwide dedicated dial “189”, which accepts child abuse consultations 24 hours a day, has been broken in the middle of voice guidance before the incoming call is connected to the person in charge since the operation started four years ago. It ’s a big challenge.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has taken measures such as shortening the guidance time so far, but 70% to 80% of the total is still cut off on the way. It was decided to make calls free from 8:30.
In addition to “189”, which accepts information related to child abuse, a paid consultation dial will be newly opened, and the child consultation center will respond to a wider range of consultations.
The free dedicated dial regarding child abuse is "189", and the paid consultation dials that respond to a wide range of consultations are "0570-783-189" and "Nayami, Ichihayaku".
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare says, “Some people may hang up because of a fee, but we want many people to use it for early detection of child abuse and quick response.”
