Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Global Market and a number of Al Maryah-based entities and institutions celebrate the 48th National Day on December 1 and 2, with many Al Maryah Island-based entities These include Abu Dhabi Global Market, Abu Dhabi Energy Department, Mubadala Petroleum, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dolphin Energy and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA).
This year's celebrations will be held throughout the country under the title 'Legacy of the Two', highlighting the noble values embedded in the Emirati identity that underpinned the foundations of the UAE federation.
The island's waterfront promenade will adorn the heritage of the UAE in a festive atmosphere that will be enjoyed by visitors to Al Maryah, which includes authentic Emirati tastes through a variety of food carts and kiosks.
The celebration activities on Al Maryah Island include a range of events that embody Emirati character, such as henna and face painting, as well as the participation of Arabic calligraphy professionals who will share guest stories of the development of Arabic calligraphy or make greeting cards to give their loved ones.
Creative talents in various fields will be able to showcase their abilities through a series of workshops hosted by Al Maria on the occasion, such as making decorative meals inspired by the colors of the UAE flag, painting with smokers (incense), making masks and designing souvenirs. In addition, visitors will have a photography platform to take souvenir photos with hawk backgrounds. Al Mariah will witness two days of live performances by the artists of the UAE's Al-Ayala and Al-Harbieh.
The Galleria Center in Al Maryah Island will witness a host of celebratory themes, such as the Majlis Heritage Tents, where Arabic coffee is served, and Henna engraving sessions for visitors to the Galleria. Dance performances by the Al-Ayala band will take place on December 1 and 2, reflecting the heritage of Emirati folk art.
National Day celebrations on Al Maryah Island conclude on December 2 with a large fireworks show starting at 21:00.
