TEPCO's survey revealed that there is a risk that rainwater contaminated by the exhaust pipe of the Fukushima Daiichi NPS leaked into the ground, and TEPCO is considering measures.

The 120-meter-high stack at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is heavily polluted due to the accident, so when it rains, rainwater containing high-concentration radioactive materials flows out.

For this reason, TEPCO has installed a concrete box to collect water next to the exhaust stack, and automatically sends it to a dedicated tank when the water level exceeds 40 cm.

However, it turns out that the water level drops even when rainwater is not sent to the tank, and for the reason TEPCO says there is a hole in the concrete box and there is a possibility that contaminated rainwater may leak into the ground .

TEPCO has not seen any change in the concentration of radioactive substances in the surrounding groundwater, and the environmental impact has not been confirmed so far. However, TEPCO is considering measures to prevent leakage.
