This is a press conference at the Circus in Stockholm. On stage, Noice members Peo Thyrén, Robert Klasen and Fredrik von Gerber pose with the band to play them in the musical Noice - you only live once in front of the cameras.

Musikal-Noice poses focused and silent to mimic their originals as they looked during their heyday in the early 1980s. Original-Noice takes a more relaxed stance.

- It had never been this quiet when it happened, mutters Fredrik von Gerber who was a drummer in Noice 1980-1981 and original-Noice giggles for old memories.

"We had the cool crowd"

Noice was born in Gustavsberg outside Stockholm and released his debut album Teenage Dreams in 1979. But the big breakthrough came with a prominence in the television program on the Monday stock exchange in 1980.

- I went to high school then. So they called from the record company and said we received mail. I went there for an hour and there were two whole bags packed with admirers mail. It was a sign that things are starting to go pretty well now, says the band's bassist Peo Thyrén, who is also a creative consultant for the musical.

During the era of greatness 1980-1982 Noice was one of Sweden's most popular bands and they were often compared to Golden Times.

- Golden Times had a larger, wider and older audience. But we had the cool crowd. But they were more popular, you can give them, says Peo Thyrén.

A great tragedy

Noice's singer and front character Hasse Carlsson left the band in 1982. After that, Noice has re-emerged with different members over the years but they have not reached the same greatness again.

- When we broke through, some said it was because we were so young and sweet. Now Robban (Klasen) and I are 57 years old, slightly overweight and gray-haired and it still works great to play these songs, says Peo Thyrén.

In the current Noice, only two original members remain. Both the band's singer Hasse Carlsson and keyboardist Freddie Hansson passed away in the early 2000s as a result of drug abuse.

- It's a big tragedy in my life. With the facts in hand, one can assume that it would not have gone that way if we had not become as successful as we became when we were so young, says Peo Thyrén.

Describes the days of glory

Behind the musical is director Robert Lillhonga and producer Totte Lundgren. It will depict the band's start and the heyday until the end of 1981.

Charlie Grönvall, who previously competed in both idol and melody festival, will play the role of Hasse Carlsson.

- I am mainly captivated by his energy, the punk attitude. There are many fun pieces in the story but also heavy pieces, says Charlie Grönvall.

Musical Noice - You Only Live Once premiered at Little Circus on October 2, 2020.
