Japan's first automated driving and mobility service Started at the end of November in Akita November 22 16:42

The unmanned automated driving service, which is aimed at realization in the middle-mountainous region where the country is aging, will be started in the end of November in Akita Prefecture for the first time in the country.

The country is aiming to start an unmanned self-driving car movement service in an aging mountainous area and other areas, and field trials are being conducted throughout the country.

The first unmanned self-driving car movement service in Japan will be held in Kamikoani Village, Akita Prefecture from 30th of this month.

Self-driving cars are planned to move at a speed of about 12 km / h while detecting electromagnetic induction wires buried in the road with sensors.

The route at Kamikoani Village is about 4 kilometers long, centering on the roadside station Kamikoani, and connects the three villages of the village with facilities often used by residents such as village offices and clinics.

In the approximately 1-kilometer section of the route, we plan to perform Level 4 automatic driving, where drivers and pedestrians do not sit on the driver's seat after temporarily blocking other vehicles and pedestrians.

In other sections, the driver monitors the automatic driving by releasing his handle from the driver's seat.

In the future, the country is aiming to deploy unmanned automated driving vehicles at more than 100 locations nationwide by 2030.
