Paris Match has selected in its archives more than 120 snapshots of personalities who have marked the news, politics or show-biz, and who have had the honors of mythical covers or double pages of the magazine during its 70 years of 'existence.

"The weight of words, the shock of photos." This slogan, which made the reputation of Paris Match , will take a particular resonance. On the occasion of its 70th anniversary, the weekly will auction next Monday some of its most beautiful. More than 120 photos have been selected in the magazine's magazine, which has several thousand.

"The buyer will buy the story of Paris Match , and how Paris Match told the story of the world," explains to Europe 1 Marc Brincourt, the former editor-in-chief of the magazine, who selected these images , first of all for their plastic quality. "Whoever is going to buy a picture will also buy it because he has a crush, he will not buy it to look at it like you look at it in a magazine, but to put it at home."

Chirac and Bardot acclaimed in the past

This is the fourth sale of its kind organized by the magazine. "At the first sale, nobody expected, but it is a photo of Jacques Chirac who sold the best (17,000 euros) .A photo of Jacques Garofalo on which the former president is aboard Concorde, with a mask on the eyes to sleep, "says Marc Brincourt. "At the second sale, it was a picture of Brigitte Bardot, nude, on a sandy beach, by Jicky Dussart."

This year, each photo is estimated between 1,500 and 2,000 euros, except a snapshot of Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo, which will be priced around 5,000 euros. But the former editor is still betting on Brigitte Bardot to make the auction soar this year. He cites in particular a photograph taken for the 40th anniversary of the sixties icon, his nudity hidden by his long hair, as it directly surveys the viewer. "This photo is likely to be a hit!", He says.

Will Brigitte Bardot win the auction? While waiting to find out, the public can still admire these 120 or so photos at the Cornette House of Saint-Cyr, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.
