2017: October 5 - The charges
  • Based on research material made up of old interviews, legal documents and emails, the New York Times publishes a report that 65-year-old Harvey Weinstein has exposed women to sexual harassment for twenty to thirty years.
  • One of them is actor Ashley Judd who tells of a job breakfast that turned out to be a sexual invitation. Even two women who were employed by his company The Weinstein company testify about sexual harassment and in an internal communication between colleagues, one of them formulated it as "a toxic environment for women within the company".

October 6 - Apologies
  • In a written statement published in the New York Times, Harvey Weinstein apologizes for his behavior and announces that he will take leave.
October 8 - Sparked from his company
  • Following the accusations against Harvey Weinstein on the board of The Weinstein Company, three board members resign.
  • On Sunday, two days after the New York Times report was published, Harvey Weinstein was fired from his own company, which he started in 2005 with his brother and since then has been a partner in.
October 10 - More women show up and audio recording is revealed
  • After five days, the charges against Harvey Weinstein have been diluted and at least 30 women, many of them big names in the film industry, have shared outrageous stories of sexual harassment and abuse. Among them are actors Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rosanna Arquette.
  • New Yorker magazine publishes new information in which Weinstien is charged with rape. An audio recording from a previous police investigation is also published in which Harvey Weinstein admits that he cheated on the woman he is talking to who is very upset.
  • His wife Georgina Chapman decides to leave him. Chapman is a British fashion designer and has been married to Weinstein since 2007.

October 11 - Men's lack of response
  • The British newspaper The Guardian seeks out over twenty male actors who have worked with Weinstein over the years, and all refuse to comment or ignore it.
  • Actors George Clooney, Ben Affleck and Colin Firth, on the other hand, go out and support the vulnerable women. Ben Affleck's support, however, declined when, after his statement, he himself was accused of cheating on women.
  • Harvey Weinstein denies the allegations through his spokesman Sallie Hofmeister.
October 12 - Police investigation and excluded from the film academy
  • With media reporting, New York police are launching a preliminary investigation into rape and harassment-laden film producer Harvey Weinstein. At this time, however, the police have not received any reports.
  • The police in London are also launching a preliminary investigation.
  • The British film academy Bafta excludes Weinstein from the organization

October 14 - Excluded from the Oscars Academy

November 6 - Spies must have been hired to silence the victims

2018: March 19 - Weinstein Company filed for bankruptcy

April 16 - The New Yorker and New York Times are rewarded with the Pulitzer Prize for Weinstein reporting

  • The New York Times and The New Yorker magazine win the 2018 Pultizer Prize for reporting sexual assault allegations against former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein. The reporting came to be the starting point for the metoo movement, autumn 2017.
May 1 - Ashley Judd sues Harvey Weinstein
  • American actor Ashley Judd sues film producer Harvey Weinstein for sexual harassment. He is accused of ruining her career for not wanting sex.
May 25 - Surrender to police
  • Eight months after the deal that started the entire metoo movement burst, Harvey Weinstein surrendered to the police. In front of cameras he was taken to the police house where he was photographed and left with fingerprints and his passport.

May 31 - Prosecuted for rape

  • A Manhattan jury in New York is voting to bring the sexually-charged movie mogul to justice. According to the indictment, Harvey Weinstein is formally suspected of first- and third-degree rape - and of first-degree criminal sexual offense. According to previous data, there are at least two different plaintiffs and events, which took place in 2013 and 2004 respectively.
June 5 - Appears in court
  • Harvey Weinstein has denied the allegations of sexual abuse and rape. Even in court he says he is innocent. Two women are the plaintiffs in the case.
July 3 - New charge of abuse
  • Weinstein is charged with sexually assaulting another woman. The new charge is about sexual assault of the first degree and should have taken place in 2006. Harvey Weinstein denies the crime.
July 9 - Appears in court again
  • Harvey Weinstein again denies all charges and the judge decides he can be released on bail.
