This is stated on the website of the department.

“Today in Moscow, at the age of 62, a heart-stopping lieutenant general Viktor Ivanovich Klimkin, legendary firefighter, deputy chairman of the central council of the All-Russian Volunteer Fire Society, died of heart failure,” the statement said.

It is noted that during the service he worked in various positions and his death is an irreparable loss for both the department and the rescue community as a whole.

“With his participation and leadership, hundreds of the most complex fires in Moscow that took place from 1996 to 2011, including the Izmailovsky Opening Day, in the Press publishing house on Pravda Street, on the Cherkizovsky Market, were put out,” the department emphasized.

It is clarified that in his track record there are many rescue operations, including, in particular, the collapse of the Basmanny Market and Transvaal Park.

Earlier, the honored pilot of the USSR, one of the former leaders of the Kirovograd flight school Ivan Pogorelov, died.
