EUROPE 1 ACCOMPANES YOU

The technique is more and more widespread, both for women and men. Permanent laser hair removal, which allows you to get rid of unwanted hair in the long term, is practiced in more and more practices. Invited Tuesday of No appointment , on Europe 1, the aesthetic doctor Jean-Marc Adda gives us his advice to use the final hair removal without risk.

At what age can we start permanent hair removal?

"The demand is growing," says Jean-Marc Adda, including men. If nearly 80% of patients remain patients, who, in general, "pay more attention to their hair than men", they "begin to take a prominent place," he notes. "Today, it has become a fashion to no longer have hair," says Jean-Marc Adda.

But, he says, permanent hair removal is not usually done at the same age depending on the sex of the patient. "Studies have shown that for men, it was better to do the laser from 35-40 years," says the doctor, because the man has "delayed hormonal maturity compared to the woman".

On the other hand, in women, the sessions can start from 18-20 years, but the peak of attendance remains between "20 and 25 years", specifies Jean-Marc Adda. And if girls still teenagers sometimes push their door, the professional usually advises parents to wait for the majority of their child.

Is this hair removal effective immediately?

For a half leg + bikini + underarm hair removal, "you need between six and ten sessions," says the aesthetic doctor. In contrast, the treatment may be longer for the face. However, he says, "the comfort comes from the first session, with 20% less hair, and a hair that is immediately refined."

If the hair removal is supposed to be definitive, hair can however regrow in some cases, as a result of hormonal disorders during menopause or pregnancy. "We can have patients who will need a little maintenance," admits Jean-Marc Adda.

In which cases is definitive hair removal contraindicated?

"We can not do laser hair removal for blondes, redheads and albinos", says Jean-Marc Adda, while medical contraindications also exist for people with eczema or autoimmune diseases .

"We never do laser on tanned skin," says the doctor, because the laser "will not know how to differentiate between the melanin of the sun and the melanin of the hair, and the skin will be destroyed as the hair" . After a session, Jean-Mac Adda also recommends wearing a 50 index sunscreen for ten days.

How to choose your practice?

On average, for a laser hair removal half-legs + jersey + armpits, the session costs 275 euros, recalls Jean-Marc Adda, who defends "a real investment on the long term". But, he reminds, it is important that this hair removal be "practiced by a doctor".
