Mateusz Morawiecki believes that the map used in the documentary The devil next door argues that Poland was an independent nation at the time and that it can therefore be perceived as Poland shares responsibility for the Nazis' atrocities.

"Since my country did not even exist as an independent state at this time, and millions of Poles were murdered in these places, The devil next door is devoted to nothing but writing about history," Mateusz Morawiecki writes in a message to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings.

In Poland, many are still reluctant to admit that thousands of Polish citizens participated in the Holocaust, while many Poles also risked their lives to help Jews.

The documentary The devil next door depicts the story of John Demjanjuk who was convicted by a German court in 2011 for having been a camp guard at several concentration camps.
