Trial run of Russell car on the San-in main line in preparation for snow JR West Japan November 11 12:54

The trial run of the Russell car deployed at Toyooka Station in JR West before the start of winter began.

A trial run of the Russell car is carried out every year by JR West Fukuchiyama Branch in preparation for snow. On the 11th, six employees inspected the Russell car at the Toyooka station in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, prior to the trial run.

We confirmed that the device called “wing” that pushes the snow piled up on the track and the “ice cutter” that pours snow between the rails work properly.

The driver boarded the vehicle and performed a test drive to Higashihama Station on the Sanin Main Line in eastern Tottori Prefecture.

JR will start trial operations on other routes after the 13th.

When two Russell cars are deployed at Toyooka Station and snow accumulation of 30 centimeters or more is expected, snow removal work will be performed on the Sanin Main Line, Maizuru Line, and Bantan Line.

JR West Fukuchiyama Branch General Manager, Kiyoshi Makoto Toyooka Branch said, “Last season there was little snow and there was no dispatch, but I don't know when it will accumulate snow. I was talking.
