Hamburg (dpa) - An unidentified man threw the body of a woman on a street in a populated residential area in the northern German city of Hamburg last night.

The German police in the north of the country this morning, that a person living in the region witnessed the incident, which took place in Barmfeld district in Hamburg, and informed the police.

Police said: "The timing of the death, place and cause of death is not yet clear," adding that the body is scheduled to undergo an autopsy at a forensic center.

According to preliminary investigations, the body belonged to a 50-year-old woman.

A neighbor told the German newspaper Bild he saw from the balcony how someone put the body in front of the house. "At first I thought he was putting garbage, but then I suddenly saw a human arm," he said.

According to the residents of the house where she lived, she was already sick for a long time.

A spokesman for Hamburg police said earlier today: "All things indicate that she died of illness."

The police added that two men were temporarily arrested, one "55 years", was arrested on the street and the other "37 years", was arrested in the apartment where the woman is supposed to stay until her death.

However, police said that the suspicion that the woman had been murdered had not been proven against both men.

A police spokesman said it was not yet clear if it was one of the men who put the woman on the street.

It is also unclear why the woman's body was dumped in the street as such.
