For the first time, Al Ain, the seven green oasis city, home to more than 170,000 palm trees, hosted the Liwa Dates Auction at the Zakher Council, organized by the Abu Dhabi Festivals and Cultural Heritage Management Committee. Buyers from across the UAE came to the auction to take advantage of the opportunities available to them, as well as for lovers of dates, who enjoyed learning about more types of dates.

Hamdan Al Mazrouei, one of the participants in the auction, said: "I was delighted to attend this auction, which adds to the city of Alain more shine, and contribute significantly to the marketing of dates and open new horizons for everyone."

For his part, Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Director of Planning and Projects Department at the Abu Dhabi Festivals and Cultural and Heritage Management Committee, said: “The palm tree is an important part of the life of the Emirati. The Palm received great care and attention from the founding father of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

He added: «We seek, through the activities of the auction to contribute effectively in the preservation of traditional heritage and traditional Arab traditions, so that the UAE remains at the forefront of the cultural and heritage scenes».

It is noteworthy that the third edition of the auction activities will continue until next Monday. The auction will take place today in Dubai, in collaboration with Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, at the Jumeirah 3 Council.
