A documentary film about the musician Kirill Tolmatsky, better known under the pseudonym Decl, appeared on the Internet in the public domain. The feed is available for free viewing on the online platform PREMIER.ONE.

The director, screenwriter and producer of the film, called "With Closed Windows", was the journalist Roman Super. The film lasting almost two hours includes archived videos, frames from interviews with Decl and mainly conversations with people around the artist. Through conversations with parents, colleagues, friends and even the rapper’s neighbor, the author of the picture traces the creative and personal path of Tolmatsky Jr. almost from birth to death.

A considerable part of the timing is dedicated to the stories of Father Decl, producer Alexander Tolmatsky. In the film, he appears to be a controversial hero: on the one hand, he admits that he could not take care of his son and was a “bad dad”, on the other hand, he is worried about Cyril’s death, cries and stops the interview in words: “The ex-wife called, said that he is gone ... ”(Super mentioned that Alexander Tolmatsky had been trying to give an interview for two months, but every time he started to cry).

Mom is the exact opposite of dad. Irina Tolmatskaya did not want her son "fate, like Rodion Gazmanov", however, under the threat of divorce, she was forced to agree that the child would interrupt his education and sign a contract with his father for 50 years (Decl himself would later call this situation "50 years into slavery").

The father and mother of the musician have different views on the reasons that prompted Alexander Tolmatsky to make a star out of his son. According to the producer, Decl was "a complex of small stature" and he even asked him to "prescribe some pills." Tolmatsky Sr. says that it was with the goal of helping the child in the fight against this complex that he turned to the founder of the Hip-Hop Culture Center, Vlad Valov.

“Vlad, this is the story. I need a child to destroy a complex of small stature. Let me help you with hip-hop history, and you will help me destroy the complex of small stature of my child, ”Tolmak talks with Valov.

However, Irina Tolmatskaya did not believe that her son was very worried about this then: “Yes, Cyril did not have a complex of small stature. Maybe it was Sasha’s complex of small stature and he kind of projected it onto Cyril? ”She believes that the promotion of her son was“ some kind of experiment ”for her ex-husband.

From 13 to 30

Vlad Valov met Decl, a 13-year-old "smiling boy" who at the very beginning of his rapper career "knew only what was on MUZ-TV ... remotely knew about hip-hop ... heard, but didn't listen" . The producer says that he gave the ward “Hip-Hop Info” magazines to read and then retell everything to him.

Andrei Menshikov (Legalize) remembers the day when among the adult musicians “some dude appeared”, “a teenager who is not kicked out for some reason”. There were friends with him - Legalize does not exclude that Timati, with whom Decl then communicated. He remembers how he spent some half an hour on the text of the song “Friday” (the producer Tolmatsky decided to give this son his birthday for this debut track).

In an interview with Super, who was also included in the film, Timur Yunusov shared the details of their pastime with Kirill - at the dawn of his career, Decl suggested Timati to work as a backing vocalist. Yunusov also told which of them was the first to make dreadlocks (spoiler: he didn’t allow his father for a long time) and what resources Alexander Tolmatsky used to make his son popular: “He had no chance not to shoot.” He explained why and how Cyril “flew off the top”: the musician began to repulse his father - and the situation got out of control.

After the peak of popularity and 40,000 stadiums, Decl's career declined: he was still in demand, but due to his father’s participation in entertainment shows and other nuances, his musician was no longer even taken seriously by his fans. Then the awkwardly dropped phrase “Decl is a sucker” fell into the people, and the popular rapper flash mob of the same name experienced it very hard, like the future quarrel and lawsuit with Basta, who called him “shaggy schmuck”. This was followed by a break with his father, a complete change of image and worldview, attempts to organize his own business, fatherhood (he, according to his former vocalist Knara, was the “main parent”) and sudden death.

Friends and colleagues of Cyril Tolmatsky note that the musician was in a state of struggle all his life - and the war with someone or something took all his strength from him.

“I was surprised how much moral core he had, inner strength to go against his father, go against the system, go against everyone, burning himself for so long,” says Timati.

At the director’s request to describe Cyril Tolmatsky in a few words, everyone calls different things - someone notes his beliefs and honesty, someone - his dedication to hip-hop and love for his family. Mother says: "He is my soul." One of the speakers chants: “Decl is cool, Decl is class! There would have been no Decl, there would have been no us. ”
