According to the Constitution, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament must be a Shia Muslim, the Prime Minister is a Sunni and the Head of State is a Christian. This 1989 agreement put an end to the civil war, but today it is accused of favoring clientelism and community withdrawal.

The demonstrators, who participate in the protest movement unleashed on October 17, demand a complete renewal of the political class remained unchanged since the end of the civil war (1975-1990). Many of the current leaders have held arms. Today protesters want to see new faces. "We are not in the street to protest against the president and his people. We have nothing against them as such. But we no longer want our leaders to speak on behalf of Christians or Muslims. We want them to speak on behalf of Lebanon ", summarizes Karina, a student in visual arts.

For this new generation, it is time to turn the page of the war. With strength and music, young Lebanese are demanding today a new social contract.
