Shuri Castle To check out the state of the export of cultural assets that have been burnt away, please check at 19:28 on November 3rd

Work began to carry out over 1000 cultural assets that had not been burned down by the fire at Shuri Castle in Naha City.

In Shuri Castle, more than 1500 cultural properties such as paintings and lacquerware were stored, but at least 420 items such as those exhibited in the main shrine are believed to have been burnt down.

On the other hand, the remaining 1000 items that were stored in the highly fire-resistant warehouses of the “Minamiden” and “Yorima” buildings, which were completely burned out, remained unburned.

The staff of the Okinawa Churashima Foundation, who manages the castle, began work to remove the remaining cultural assets from the storehouse from the morning of the third day.

According to the Foundation, the storage was filled with water during fire fighting, so the Foundation decided to move the cultural assets to another place and check the condition.
