During the awards ceremony, among other things, the prime ministers of Sweden and Denmark sat next to each other in the audience. While Stefan Löfven (S) applauded a little cautiously when the speech was over, Mette Frederiksen (S) sat completely still. And yet no official reaction has come from the Danish Prime Minister - but on the other from some other Danish politicians, reports the newspaper Politiken.

The one who has responded most strongly to Eika's speech is probably Pia Kjærsgaard, Deputy Speaker of the Folketing and former party leader of the right-wing populist Danish People's Party:

“Ashamed, Jonas Eika. Abuse of the Nordic Council. I have also over the years repeatedly heard the accusations and politicization of various cultural personalities towards my person from the stage after receiving an award. You want the money, but good behavior you do not know what it is. Fy! ”, Pia Kjærsgaard writes on Twitter.

Calls Eika the "author clown"

Another person who responds, though much more cautiously, is the Social Democratic Food Minister Mogens Jensen. On Twitter, Jensen first congratulates Jonas Eika on the award, but then writes that he "does not agree" with Eika's criticism of his party and Denmark, but that he respects his "great literary quality".

The Prime Minister's party mate, Social Democrat Rasmus Stoklund, however, goes for a tougher attack and calls Eika the "author clown".

“Embarrassed that this award-winning author clown is using his speech to accuse the prime minister of being racist. He hopes to get a hit on Mette F, but only manages to devalue the concept and mock millions of people who have been subjected to racism, ”he tweeted.

A voice for the young

But according to Uffe Elbaek, party leader of the Opposition Alternative, Eika is a voice for the young generation.

“There are numbers. And then there is this speech (...) A well-directed mental kick. Politics directly from the heart. And skinless honestly. My generation has @carstenjensendk, the young people have Jonas Eika, ”writes Elbaek.
