Studies of Indian researchers in the Journal of Pharmacy and Biological Sciences showed that okra proved to be effective in controlling diabetes after experiments with rats infected with the disease, and their diet of dried okra pills, reduced blood glucose levels.

When the researchers conducted regular experiments on a number of diabetics who ate okra for 10 days, the results were promising as their sugar levels dropped after the okra was soaked in water overnight and then presented to them on an empty stomach in the morning.

Another Indian study pointed to a strange relationship between okra and type 2 diabetes, and proved that the suppression of this plant fights blood sugar and low levels.

Type 2 diabetes requires dietary reform, especially since scientific experiments have shown that a number of foods lower blood sugar levels.

It is noteworthy that roasted okra used previously popular medicine in a number of countries in the Middle East to treat diabetes, insoluble fiber slows the rate of absorption of sugar in the intestine and thus stabilize blood glucose.
