It is French Pathé and Vendome pictures that together with British Moonriver TV will create the series, which is aimed at an international audience. Pathé and Vendom have also purchased the rights to the New York Times news report on the fire.

According to Variety, the viewer will be able to follow from the fact that the first alarm about a fire in the cathedral's wind came to the rescue service in Paris, and then to follow the events of the event when the flames spread and eventually extinguished.

Inspired by "Chernobyl"

Film producer Philippe Rousselet, founder of Vendome pictures, tells Variety that the inspiration behind the project is HBO's success series "Chernobyl", directed by Swedish Johan Renck.

As in "Chernobyl", the characters will mainly speak English. However, the series, which has not yet received a name, will also contain other languages.

"Will tell the true story"

Rousselet tells the newspaper that the miniseries will "tell a universal story" reflecting on "the heart of a country's culture and the inherent fragility of life":

- Notre-Dame is more than just a building. This is where Paris was born and it is part of its soul. This dramatic series will tell the true story of what happened that devastating night.
