In the decision, the Review Board believes that TV4 canceled the movie Top Gun with a commercial feature in a central scene. It was when the character Maverick (played by Tom Cruise) sings to a woman in a bar, that the channel put in a commercial. But it was perceived as disturbing and reported to the Review Board, which now drops TV4.

TV4 has several times previously been dropped for disruptive commercials in their movie screenings. In May, the channel was blamed for five disruptive commercials in a display of Dead Poets' company, and was charged with SEK 250,000 in fines.

The Review Board has now applied for a fee of SEK 50,000 for the Top Gun interruption, something that the Administrative Court will decide on later this year. TV4 itself has previously said that "comprehensive measures" have been implemented to solve the problem of disruptive advertising breaks.
