How to summarize in a drawing Turkey's military intervention against the Kurds in northeastern Syria, without reaction from the United States? The cartoonist Morin, winner of many awards including the Pulitzer in 1996, chose to stage Uncle Sam against a Kurd. Both characters have a knife planted in the back, on which one can read the name of Trump, inscribed on the handle.

Uncle Sam addresses the Kurdish in these words: "Do you feel betrayed?", In reference to Donald Trump's political decision to withdraw American troops from the Syrian-Turkish border, and therefore leave the Kurds to their fate. Uncle Sam, meanwhile, also feels betrayed by Donald Trump, no doubt to express that the United States does not have the habit of abandoning their allies.
