According to an Obscoco report on the circular economy published this Thursday, the French are ready to buy packaged products in bulk. Unilever promises to halve its consumption of plastic by 2025. After the cigarette or the diesel, will we detox plastic?

Faced with the proliferation of plastic, a solution is gaining ground in supermarkets, it is that of the "bulk" by bringing its own jars.

Why not ? After all, we made the habit when we shop to bring our own bags because there is more plastic bag in the shops. In the same way, will we have to make the habit of bringing our own jars to buy tea, coffee, laundry or shampoo?
This Wednesday, a study of the "Observatory Society and Consumption" for Citéo (the former Eco-Emballage) showed that more than one in two French had bought products without packaging over the past year. And that if he did not do more, it was because of the impractical or unhygienic side of the thing but simply lack of product.
It must be recognized that the detergent or cosmetic department is the reign of plastic bottles.

Agri-food giant and cleaning products Unilever announces that it will halve its plastic consumption by 2025.

And it's not nothing Unilever, we necessarily have one of their products at home. These are the brands Lipton, Knor, Amora, Dove, Rexona, Cif, Monsavon, Omo, Skip, Signal (toothpaste), Sun or Ax.
To pack and sell all these products, Unilever consumes 700,000 tons of plastic every year, nearly 100 times the weight of the Eiffel Tower.
The group promises to halve this figure in six years.
What is always interesting with the Nordics (Unilever is installed in Rotterdam), it is their frankness since the group motivates its decision as much for ecological reasons, as commercial. The consumer no longer wants plastic and then the regulations harden.
Will the unthinkable happen in our supermarkets? After the end of plastic bags, is it the end of plastic packaging?
