The excessive speed of a vehicle on the Sharjah Khorfakkan road led to an unfortunate accident this morning, which resulted in the death of two people, one of whom was a citizen - the driver of the vehicle, and the other was an Asian worker who happened to be at the scene after being run over as a result of the vehicle derailing.
Immediately after the communication was received at the Khorfakkan Police Operations Room at 8:20 am, a number of traffic patrols and national ambulance teams moved to the scene, where the driver of the first vehicle, IA, 18, died at the scene. He was subsequently run over (44) years after being admitted to hospital due to serious injuries.
The Sharjah Police General Headquarters urges all drivers to adhere to the speed limit on the roads, especially at the junctures and tunnels - and to be wary of road surprises, focus and attention while driving to avoid such tragic accidents and the resulting loss of human and material damages.
