60 years ago I participated in the organization of the friends of the Opera . We were helped by the head of the Zarzuela theater and, subsequently, the Minister of the Army, Castañón de Mena , a great fan of bel canto. Placido Domingo had a brilliant success in Spain and extended it to the whole world. He was a young prodigy, intelligent, friendly, educated, physically attractive ... He was raffled by women. Many of them harassed him. First, because he attracted them as a man and then because there have always been climbs. And many in Spain and outside Spain wanted to prosper as sopranos seducing Placido and getting into bed if they could.

Just the opposite of what thirty years later some say. The harassed is the Spanish tenor, not them. Over time, Domingo became the first figure in the history of music in Spain, above, I remembered a couple of months ago, of Falla, Vitoria, Soler, Albéniz, Turina, Victoria de los Ángeles, Pau Casals, Andrés Segovia, Rodrigo, Chapí, Halffter, Caballe, Kraus ... In addition, the BBC, through a jury composed of the most prestigious critics in the world, proclaimed Domingo as the best tenor in history, followed by Caruso, Pavarotti , Gigli, Schipa, Kraus ...

I belong to a middle class family with three brothers and one sister. The best was her, María Clotilde , the smartest of the four, the most responsible, the most hardworking. At that time, all young people, she could not have a checkbook or a passport, it was frowned upon that she worked or that she joined the University. Throughout my life I have reacted against the injustice that women have been victims - and they still are - and I have fought for them with my work tool: the word and the pen.

But to affirm that Placido harassed women is to offend the truth. The tenor was not a stupid and outgoing fat man, but a young man especially attractive to women and a gentleman from head to toe. With the personal dignity that has always characterized him, he has said goodbye to the United States. He deserves the general recognition and remember once more Pavarotti's phrase : "If you invite me to dinner and, to please me, put a recording of me, I will leave you planted immediately. If you want me to stay, let me hear Placido's voice ".
