Baker died on Sunday morning after a time of illness, it was announced on his Facebook page.
He was born in South London in 1939 and started playing drums in his teens. After playing in several different constellations, in 1966 he formed the band Cream with Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton. The band sold over 15 million records before splitting in 1968. After that, Baker and Clapton formed the band Blind Faith with Ric Grech and Steve Winwood.
Later in life, Baker moved to Nigeria and worked with local musicians. He leaves behind three children.
