Replay the cult scene of a film by Godard, walk under a cotton candy rain, pedal safely on the periphery ... This 18th edition of the Nuit Blanche is both festive and sporty.

ASK THE PROGRAM

It is now an essential cultural event. The Nuit Blanche version 2019 is held on Saturday evening in Paris and the suburbs. This 18th edition gives pride of place to the movement and looks spectacular for an outing with friends or family. Europe 1 has listed the three activities not to be missed!

The parade

This White Night will begin at 7 pm, with a grand festive parade between Place de la Concorde and Place de la Bastille. For the occasion, about fifteen floats were made by great artists, like the artist Daniel Buren. So expect to see works as spectacular as a cotton candy thruster or robots that dance the French cancan on electro rhythms.

This parade will be surrounded by 600 musicians of the world. "The idea is to mix the culture sometimes a little sharp contemporary art with the great festive culture of the parade and the popular festival," summarizes with Europe 1 Jean-Max Colard, the artistic adviser of this Night white.

The great crossing

This Nuit Blanche is also sporting with a race that will cross the Louvre Museum for the first time. The "Great Crossing" is part of the perspective of the Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2024 in Paris, but also pays tribute to a cult scene of Band Apart , the film by Jean-Luc Godard, in which the trio formed by Sami Frey , Anna Karina and Claude Brasseur try to cross the Louvre in 9 minutes and 43 seconds.

This crossing at "not fast" - preservation of the places obliges - is in fact only one stage of a wider race of 10 kilometers, which will pass by other cultural sites emblematic of the capital like the theater of Châtelet, City Hall or the Georges Pompidou Center. Appointment in uniform, Place de la Concorde, from 22 hours (departures by section until 23:30). Four different loops will be offered to participants.

The velodrome

Closed between Porte de Patin and Porte de la Villette, the ring road will be transformed Saturday night into a giant velodrome. For the occasion, the boulevard is dressed in light under the guidance of Studio 1024 Architecture, specializing in monumental audiovisual installations. Some food trucks will allow refueling. Everyone can come with his bike (or a Vélib '), for a round light until the end of the night ... white.
