Zine El Abidine, the son of Syria's ambassador to India, Riyad Abbas, and Sally, daughter of Syrian Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam, have sparked controversy on social media.

Activists and Syrian pages on Facebook carried leaflets on "Astronomical costs of the wedding," amid accusations of "extravagance", where figures amounting to about $ 2 million (approximately 1.2 billion Syrian pounds) were reported as costs for the wedding held in Yafour resort near Damascus.

Local media reported that several singers from Lebanon participated in the wedding celebration, in addition to a Russian dance troupe. The ceremony also witnessed a huge lavishness on food and cigars amid the presence of a large number of businessmen and officials.

The ceremony was inaugurated by playing the "National Anthem", during which the chanting of "Spirit in Blood, We Deliver You, Bashar" was performed.

The pioneers of social networking sites questioned the source of the money spent at the ceremony, especially that the highest Syrian salary for the largest state employees ranges between $ 100-150 per month, and considering that the parents of the newlyweds employees of the state.

In turn, the groom Zain Abbas denied all that was circulated, and pages on social networking sites reported his reply, which was titled: "I wish my family and friends and loved to spread the truth," explaining that "the only thing that happened from all your lies that there was a wedding" .
