The old adage of Native Americans says that those who tell stories will rule the world. At other times, this example is attributed to the well-known Greek philosopher Plato, saying: storytellers will rule society!

Do stories have such a strong influence on the development of societies? Do the narrators or the tales of the tales take this prestigious place in the world?

Many questions have come to mind as I browse the book “The Wise” by Yuval Noah Harari, which has been translated into Arabic and forty-five different languages. The wise »means the human race, and one theory says that the beginning of the development of language began as a means to exchange information about the world. The term "exchange of gossip" was also used, in other words, the ancient man used gossip as a means of communication. There are those who support this theory and others who oppose it, and what the writer called the “intellectual revolution” has earned the sane person the ability to talk about imagination, hence he began to weave myths, tales and myths.

It is well known that the narrative techniques of modern times have changed and that who owns the content is controlling the societies. Can we say with the American proverb or Plato that those who own the content will rule the world?

Just a question leads us to the fact that the importance of content has emerged in all areas of development and intellectual, as well as economic and political, and has become major organizations and companies flying in the space of electronic media of all kinds, with its huge content and the ability of modern technology to provide information in order to reach the public in an innovative way. Hence its importance, precedence and strength. We can say, for example, that media networks spend astronomical figures to establish a digital platform in which to provide interesting content to subscribers from all segments of society, in exchange for cheap money, and the best example is Netflix digital network, which spent this year about $ 15 billion to produce Original content provided to viewers, and thus became the control of the world of television and cinematic applications in this spacious space, thanks to its style and method of delivering content in a professional and innovative format for viewers hungry for stories and stories. It made the difference, and whistled the competition between major global companies such as Disney and Time Warner to launch advanced digital platforms and compete with Netflix for the new media throne.

The bright truth of our time is that readers, viewers, and listeners are also willing to pay money and subscriptions for a good story. That's why content has become a popular industry in our modern times.

But the question remains: Where is the site of those who tell stories in the traditional way and present the content in its old form? Are writers, editors, and media still governing societies, influencing public opinion, and contributing to policy-making according to the old American proverb or Plato's argument?

Despite their great ability to influence, they have become part of larger systems that control them, as the role of the individual diminishes with the development of technologies and the emergence of transcontinental companies. As countries embark on this battle and believe in the power of content, the world is turning to Silicon Valley, the kiss of modern technology.

“Stories increase our concerns,” says Sahbi. Storytellers still have an important place in societies, right?

I said no comment.
