The honorary citizens who were awarded to those who contributed to the development of the Tokyo metropolitan area were selected by three artists, Saito and Takao, who have continued to serialize the popular dramatization “Golgo 13” for over 50 years. It was done.

The honorary citizens' awards ceremony was held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government on the day of “Tomin's Day”, and gifts and so on were given to three people living in Tokyo who were chosen as honorary citizens.

Ryoko Akamatsu (90), who was selected as an honorary citizen, is a former Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, who has worked for many years to improve the social status of women, including making efforts to establish the Equal Employment Opportunity Law.

Takao Saito (82), a dramatic painter who has serialized the popular dramatism “Golgo 13” for over 50 years and attracts many readers.

Ishio Miyake (81), a designer who continues to make innovative clothes, such as cutting out clothes from a piece of cloth.

After the ceremony, Mr. Akamatsu said, “I was honored to be an honorable citizen at the age of 90 and I thought there was something good. The Equal Employment Opportunity Law was a job I wanted to do.”

Mr. Saito said, “I was surprised to be selected as an honorary citizen. I think that I was able to continue for many years because I thought it was a job with a craftsman-like consciousness.”

Mr. Miyake said, “I think I still have a lot of compliments, but I'm trying to make clothes with all kinds of materials, such as using recycled ones. I will continue to do my best.”
