• 'Spider-Man: Away from home'. Revealing the secrets

Sony Pictures and Disney announced today that they will develop a new Spider-Man movie together with Tom Holland as the protagonist, a decision that comes a month after both companies broke their collaboration around the arachnid Marvel superhero.

Disney, owner of Marvel Studios, and Sony Pictures, which has the rights to Spider-Man, plans to release on July 16, 2021 this new feature film that will give continuity to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far from house (2019).

These two tapes, headed by Holland, raised worldwide more than 1,827 million euros between them.

The agreement reached by Sony Pictures and Disney will allow Spider-Man to continue appearing also in the upcoming Marvel Studios films , as it did, for example, in the recent Avengers: Endgame (2019).

"I am delighted that Spidey's journey continues in the Marvel film universe," Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said today in a statement collected by US media.

" Spider-Man is a powerful icon and a hero whose story spans all ages and audiences worldwide. In addition, he is the only hero with the superpower of crossing cinematic universes, so as long as he continues to develop his own 'Spidey-verse' You never know what surprises the future holds. "

"We had a great collaboration in the last four years, and our mutual desire to continue was the same as many fans," said Sony Pictures Entertainment communications chief Robert Lawson. " We are delighted to move forward together. "

Sony and Disney agreed in 2015 that the movies in which Spider-Man was the protagonist would be from Sony, a company that would take most of the benefits , in exchange for Disney to include the superhero as a character in the rest of the movies from Marvel Studios.

Specialized media pointed out that the reason for the breakup in August was that Disney wanted to reconsider the agreement and share with Sony both the financing and the benefits derived from 50% Spider-Man movies, something Sony rejected. For now, the economic details of the new agreement reached between Sony Pictures and Disney have not been disclosed.
