Swedish murder stories are one of Sweden's biggest podcasts. This year, the pod was released in book form, with some of the most popular sections. Now, the Cultural News can show that the book, just like the podcast, has plagiarized several Swedish news articles and blogs.
In one case, the book contains five entire pages that have been straight from a criminal history blog.
The publisher Bookmark owns the rights to the book Swedish murder stories, which is authored by the podcast Sebastian Krantz with literary editing by the journalist Cyril Hellman. After the Cultural News review, Bookmark announces that "all rights return to the authors". The publisher does not want to post any further interviews but announces in an email that they "have not been involved in the publishing" of the book, as they bought the smaller publisher Pagina, which first signed the rights to the book, just a month ago.
"But should now look at it and make an assessment of the distribution based on it," writes Claes Ericson, publishing manager at Bookmark to the Cultural News.
